Sit-Inside kayaks are defined as having a cockpits that you sit inside of, and usually you sit at or below the water line. The Sit-Inside kayaks are generally lighter than their Sit-On-Top cousins, and more efficient. Depending on the size of the opening, the Sit-Inside usually will keep the paddler more dry than the Sit-On-Top, but does not have the self-bailing scupper holes that Sit-On-Tops have. The Sit-Inside is the classic design that has lasted for thousands of years and is still going strong today. For someone who wants to paddle whitewater, touring, recreational, or fishing, the Sit-Inside will be a fantastic option for anyone in that category.
