Originally from Greensboro, and now gladly back home by way of Wilmington, Flagstaff, and Charlotte, Dana has been at Get:Outdoors since May 2014. He is a Licensed Professional Geologist, but has re-established his amateur status so he can get back to helping folks get out on the water. Dana’s been paddling since the mid 1990’s when a kayak sounded like a good way to get some surf during the long, flat coastal Southeast summers. But the paddlebug bit quickly and that old, used Perception Dancer soon had to share water time with canoes, rafts, whitewater kayaks and eventually SUPs. Through a stint outfitting in Northern Arizona he was introduced to multi-day expedition-rig oar rafting, tentless camping and the magic of dutch-oven brownies, but he’s now excited to be able to appreciate the varied waters, honest bluegrass music and beautiful people of the Piedmont and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
