CKA - Gate City Classic Kayak Fishing Tournament - REGISTRATION IS CLOSED

CKA Tournament 8

The Gate City Classic

Multi-Lake Event

September 28th, 2019

The Gate City Classic celebrates the end of every CKA tournament season. In nearly every previous year, the Angler of the Year was a lock. This year is different, as a handful of anglers will compete on the final day for the AOY title. The rest of us will compete for prizes, qualifying spots in the Tournament of Champions and for KBF National Championship qualification. It’s going to be a dramatic end to a great regular season, to say the least!

In addition, we will be giving away a number of special prizes this year.

·         Anglers who fished at least 6 of events will be eligible for the On the Water Innovations custom trailer.  Please register early if you fished 5 events previous to this one, so your name will be on the list of eligible anglers

·         Rookie of the Year and Angler of the Year will receive Get Outdoors gift cards, among other prizes

·         Boonedox has donated a special prize package for the Rookie of the Year

·         TourneyX has donated giveaway items to CKA

·         Torqeedo gift certificates

·        Zee Bait Co. prize packages

·         And more!

We will also announce the time and location for the Tournament of Champions. The lake is announced after the Classic and Final standings are announced.

C.    Tournament ID card

The CKA ID card will be posted at mid-week on the week of the tournament. You will see it in your Tourneyx dashboard.  Print spare copies or reuse previous cards. The ID code will be posted to the CKA Facebook page on Friday night before the tournament (it will also appear on our Twitter and Instagram pages). Please write the ID posted on your ID card. The number and entire card must be visible in the photo and we must be able to read the ID number in order for the fish you submit to Tourneyx to be valid.

D.    Boundaries and Rules

You are responsible for reading and following all CKA rules. All local lake rules also apply, so be careful to read the regulations for the lake you choose to fish. You can read CKA rules at this link- http://www.carolinakayakanglers.com/?page_id=38

Remember that certain areas of lakes are clearly marked as being off-limits. This is true of some areas of Randleman Lake, for example. Anglers who fish in off-limits areas risk substantial fines. Furthermore, they will have their fish removed from the standings.

E.     Launches

This tournament is a multi-launch event, and the listed lakes and access areas (below) will be the only eligible locations to launch. Keep in mind that some launches have limited space and different hours. Be sure to know the lake rules, arrive early, respect fellow boaters and be careful and helpful at the launches. There may also be additional launch fees. If you plan to ask for an early opening of the gate, coordinate with other anglers. Any and all anglers must be allowed to enter and launch once a gate opens.

Please keep in mind that CKA does not control access to the ramps and if a gate is closed or it opens late, there is nothing we can do to change that fact.  Late opening will not affect check-in time at the end of the day, and all anglers must be present at GetOutdoors for check-in before the deadline.

We encourage anglers to coordinate early launch openings for the event, but some lakes may not be willing to provide early access, or may only do so for a fee. Anglers should cooperate and contribute in such cases, but CKA is not involved in arranging an early gate/launch opening. Contact marinas/launches with your inquiries.

F.     Captains Meetings

There will not be a live Captains Meeting for the event. CKA tournament directors may be present at certain ramps on the morning of the event and will check CKA messages throughout the day. It is best to ask questions in the days prior to the event.
